The Health-Boosting Power of the “So What” Technique!

SoWould you be willing to do something that can boost your self-esteem, health, happiness, and that takes only a minute? Who wouldn’t? I have been doing something new that is doing all of that for me, and, of course, I had to share it with you. It’s what I call, the “So What” technique.
The So What technique is an easy, practical way to eliminate negative, self-defeating thoughts and help you to replace them with positive, health-boosting thoughts. The more you can do that, the better you will feel about yourself, and your health will be the better for it, too.
Now, we all know that how you feel about yourself can affect your health. If you want to read more about that, CLICK HERE. But, did you realize that how you feel about how others view you also can have a profound effect on your health and well-being? Think about a time when someone criticized you for something and how you felt afterward. You might have been able to shrug it off, but for many of us, the sting is felt long after the event in question. And, overtime, these events can pile up such that they become like gigantic boulders that can weigh on you and stress you out.
And, it’s not only the opinions of others that can bring us down, but there’s also the mental torment we subject ourselves to by comparing ourselves or our lives with others or comparing our possessions to others’ possessions. For many of us, it’s become an ingrained habit where we do this unconsciously. For example, how many times have you said, “I’ll never look as good as so-and so” or “My house is a dump compared to tootsie-wootsie’s” (I’m guilty of this one!)? And on it goes, you get the picture.
Want to rid youreself of this mental, health-destroying junk? Use the So What technique to break free!
Here’s some real world examples of how to do this:
So and so said I was fat. There’s an oft-quoted saying, “Your opinion of me is none of my business”. And it’s true, who cares? You simply cannot worry about what someone thinks and you have no control over it in any case. Say, “So What”, and then immediately think about the people in your life who are in your corner. Know that you have value; there is only one YOU. You’re an original and priceless. This concept is so important that it is Key #1 in my book, The Wellness Mindset: 5 Keys to Building Super Health.
Tootsie- Wootsie has a bigger home than I do. If you want a bigger home, then go for it, but don’t burn brain cells and stress yourself out worrying about what someone else has that you don’t. Say, “So what” and then immediately think about how great it is to have the home that you do. When you consider that many people in the world don’t even have a roof over their heads, it really puts things into perspective. And it helps you to see how blessed you are and to be grateful that you have a home.
The point is to use this technique whenever you are confronted with negativity from others or whenever you have less-than-positive thoughts of your own. So, remember the formula: Say, “So what” and then practice gratitude for what you do have. Try it! I’ll bet you’ll feel amazing! To your good health!
